This piece is from an ongoing series entitled insatiate. insatiate explores the cognitive dissonance between social norms of eating and my inner relationship with food consumption. The photographs externalize the internal, pulling back the curtain on my mental relationship with food: the obsession, the desire, the love, the dependency, the shame, the deeply secret. Performing for the camera, and thereby an audience of viewers, I name the hidden world we all inhabit and the stigmatized fantasy as an inextricable part of who I am. In photographing this work and confronting others with the unspoken desires of consumption, I also confront myself - acting on what until now has only been internalized and suppressed.
